We are seeking a part-time Gallery Intern to assist us with a Pop-Up Gallery in Spring Valley next to Millie’s on 49th Street. We are an online art gallery, representing local artists. We are seeking a friendly, energetic intern to assist us with gallery operations. We are seeking someone with 1-2 years of art background who is familiar with art history, the arts and current exhibitions.
Greeting visitors to the gallery and sharing our business and the Pop-Up Concept. In addition, we may need assistance Installing and deinstalling exhibits, meeting with potential clients, and packaging the artwork for delivery.
Maintaining the Gallery
Work occasional special events (opening receptions, artist talks, etc)
Assist in marketing and promotion of gallery events
Become knowledgeable about the artists and exhibitions on view
Answer visitors’ questions regarding the galleries/exhibitions during install/deinstall
Provide a friendly and welcoming environment
Be prepared to facilitate personal connections for visitors through one-on-one or group conversation
Be on time
Enforce and abide by gallery rules
If you have no 4 hour periods of availability during the day, please do not apply.
Have some experience working in a professional environment
Gallery Assistant must present themselves in dress appropriate for the gallery.
Be able to work with director, artists, and clients to execute exhibition installations
Work weekends and longer weekly hours during install/deinstall and special gallery events
Have basic administrative skills
Be able to take instruction from the Director
Be able to lift and carry ~50lbs.
